La Cantina Sioux Falls

We recently went to this restaurant again, and while there were things we truly enjoyed, our experience ended up being a bit mixed. We’ve always loved the atmosphere here—the space is beautiful, inviting, and the employees are consistently friendly. The service and the vibe have always been some of its strongest points. Unfortunately, the food this time didn’t quite meet expectations. The fish was cooked well, but it really lacked flavor. The shrimp and scallops were also inconsistent in their cook; some were fine, but several bordered on overcooked. For the price point, especially when spending around $90 for two people, we really expect consistency and top-notch quality. One thing we had forgotten from our previous visit is that the restaurant upsells drink sizes without mentioning it.

As a fourth generation Loa Angeles native that was raised and spent much of my adult life in SoCal I am always in the lookout for good Hispanic and South American cuisine. As a recent transplant to Sioux Falls from the west coast I have struggled to find much beyond some over cheesed Americanized TexMex that I find repulsive. I stumbled across this little gem while scoping out the stores and restaurants next to my new loft at the Carlton. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. The shook me up a made to order margarita that had jalapeño infused tequila and muddled cilantro (think Mexican Mojito). Fun little spot for sure. We went for our first time around 230pm. From start to finish everything was great. Salsa and chips very good, & the white cream sauce they brought out with it. Iwould to by that by the gallon. Food was beautiful and delishious. I can't wait to visit again soon. Drink menu looks amazing as well!

Down to it… Another Mexican restaurant! Trust me, I’m not complaining. This could very easily become my new favorite. The food here is outstanding. The wife and I shared the Molcajete which is HUGE! Comes with two side plates with beans, rice, and flour tortillas. The drink menu was very enticing, we just had to try something, absolutely beautiful! All their drinks coming out looked top notch. When we got here we were seated very quickly. We got our chips and salsa and drinks very quickly with great service and a smile. Everyone we talked to was very Courteous and kind. They gave us just the right amount of time to look the menu over. After ordering I was not expecting the food to get to us that quickly, what a great response time. Usually I'm not a big fan of rice and beans but I still eat them and today WOW they were amazingly delicioso. The waiter was impeccable on his drink refill timing and taking away dirty plates and such, that you do not find often so thank you for that.
