La Cabaña Mexican Restaurant

It's a treat to find a decent Mexican restaurant in Big Piney. Food was very good. I had the "special", carne asada burrito for a dollar off. My buddy had the veggie burrito, said it was the best he's had. It's pricey. Most items over $20. The portion of chips brought with salsa was the smallest I've seen for two people. My buddy asked for a refill and they charged almost three bucks. Most burritos don't come with beans and rice. His did, mine didn't. This is shown correctly on the menu, but should be included. Extra charge for debit cards. This has become all too common. Salsa is mild and plain. If you want some heat it's Tapatio or Cholula from a bottle.

The food was quite good. Portions are small for the prices. Oh, and on prices, the ones shown on the menu aren't actually what you get charged. And they act really weird when you want to see what you are charged before actually paying. Service was very lacking which is odd based on what I've experienced in small towns. Usually they are thrilled to get the business and treat you like gold. Definitely not the case here. Don't plan to go back.

The local bartender said this place had the best lunch in town so I tried it. I haven't had lunch anywhere else in Big Piney, but it was good. Portions were generous, prices were more than reasonable, and the waitress was unflappable even when I spilled half a bowl of salsa on my table. The burrito especial is highly recommended, but I wish they had a junior version (not for the money, just no way one reasonable person is going to eat that whole thing).

I see quite a few negative compliments in the reviews. Don't mind them at all. I've eaten here many time and have always had good service and excellent food. Small family owned business that does a good job. Might be a little on the expensive side of things but you have to remember the location. Big piney isn't exactly in a very populated area. They have to make a living too! If you want cheap Mexican food go to taco bell and complain somewher else. Keep up the good work!

Were in town hunting and ate there twice. Both excellent meals! The second time she remembered what my boys had ordered. Great food and service! Strawberry nachos were amazing! Also, we were there close to closing time and they didn't mind at all! Highly recommend!
