Customer Reviews
Nice little restaurant in the heart of Minneapolis serving up cooked and raw Japanese dishes. They have a daily happy hour of small plates which gives you a good sampling of their offerings. The cooked items are really good but the sushi I had the evening I was there was not fresh. In fact some of the pieces smelled fishy which is never a good sign. Prices factor in a service charge so there is no expectation that you also leave a tip. Plenty of street parking, nice ambience in the restaurant. Friendly staff.
I love that there is NO Tip !!! Service charge is already included in the food price. Happy Hours is great!. Staff is attentive and polite. Food comes out quickly. Nice ambiance. Parking is free on the small parking lot at the side of the building.
My wife really liked the Mayo miso sesame sauce on the wings. I thought they were good. My wife liked one of the specialty rolls but I generally thought the food was fine. I've had better sushi, the chicken meatball Skewers were fine. I like the locally sourced ingredients, organic food, and that they pay their staff well (19% service fee built into pricing). I'll probably give this another go sometime to support them and give it another shot!
Kyatchi is easily one of the best Japanese restaurants in Minneapolis. The menu focuses on sustainably sourced seafood, which makes the sushi feel both thoughtful and exceptionally fresh. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are consistently wonderful. Their happy hour is outstanding, with creative cocktails and some fantastic small plates. The chicken kara-age is to die for, served with lemon and Japanese mayo, and they also offer a great vegetarian kara-age made with crispy fried tofu. There is an even more amazing dish on the happy hour menu, but I will leave that one as a mystery for people to discover on their own. I could happily eat here every day.
Great sushi and Japanese! Great service. I was caught off guard when there was no place to write in tip, but the server told me they get paid fairly and integrate what they would get for tips in the prices of their food. So, if the prices are steep, this is why! Food was excellent though. Tables are tight together so it’s a little cozy. But would recommend coming here!
