Kokoro Don Cafe

Ignore the nigiri/sashimi/maki/temaki/tamari - you can generally get better quality fish for cheaper elsewhere, though the Aburi Saba is worth it if Saba is something you enjoy. Don't bother with the katsu curry - cafe mami or go go curry are better options. Instead, focus on the various inari, as that's what they do best and it's something that simply isn't particularly available in the greater Boston area. The garlic fried rice is great too - don't sleep on it. Their katsu sandwich is the best in the greater Boston area, but the bar isn't particularly high. They cook their pork katsu well, but I wish the bread were a bit lighter/fluffier, and it could use more of the cabbage salad. Amazing food and beautiful presentation! The sashimi was very fresh and high quality, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The ramen broth was rich and comforting, with tender chashu and a perfectly cooked egg. Gyoza and fried chicken were crispy and delicious, not greasy at all. Dessert was light and fresh. You can really tell they care about quality and details. Highly recommend Kokoro!

A new spot in Somerville. We were very excited to try this place out but I think there is still lot of rooms for improvement. The hits: Good ordering system. Food was nicely presented. The majority of the sashimi in the don tastes fresh and flavorful. The chicken katsu is crispy and tender. The misses: Food took about 45 minutes to come out. And tuna sashimi tasted a little bit fishy. The chicken katsu is sadly misproportioned, with a lot of rice while not too much chicken or any other toppings. The chicken kaarage is heavily breaded, and unlike the katsu, very dry and plain (without the mayo sauce). I understand that this is still during soft opening phase so hopefully this will contribute a little bit to the improvements. I do hope that the restaurant will succeed as they seem to put

New Japanese cafe in town, I’ve been order food so many times online and tried to come in the restaurant with a small cute bar seating with a friendly staffs. Price is reasonable, food is great quality FRESH FISH! and I love a pan fried gyoza so much!!! Can’t leave a place with not order it. Kokoro sando it’s good to be my new favorite breakfast, fulfill and tasty RECOMMEND 🫶🏼

This sushi is really worth it. I ordered this sushi and it was very delicious and juicy. The avocado and salmon were both fresh, and the pieces were very big. I ate it with hot fried chicken and dipped it in mayo sauce so good! There are many drink options. The restaurant has a Japanese-style vibe. It’s clean, nice, and easy to get to. The owner is very friendly and kind.💞💞
