Kokai Sushi and Lounge

The restaurant felt a bit overpriced, and our food—especially the sushi—took quite a while to arrive. Considering it wasn’t very busy, it seemed the kitchen might have been short-staffed, working through one table’s order at a time. The sushi rolls were enjoyable, but the entrées were just average. Cocktails were decent, though they also came out slowly. We did appreciate the thoughtful touch of a birthday dessert.

Absolutely loved this meal at Kokai Sushi. Everything came out warm, fresh, and packed with flavor, and you can really tell there’s a lot of care behind each plate. The attention to detail is a big plus—from presentation to balance of textures and sauces. On top of that, the music was very enjoyable, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and intentional, not rushed or generic. Honestly, this place feels like Katy’s hidden secret. If you know, you know—and if you don’t, you should.

The standout dish for both of us was the Aderezo De Ajonjoli Deluxe which featured perfectly seared thin slices of tuna with sesame seeds, and avocado in their special house sauce with their house salad, crunchy salmon, and plantains. The flavors were unexpected and went so well together 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 The ambiance and decor was also a 10/10. If you live in or around Katy, add this one to your list!

The service is always amazing. Restroom is very clean. By far the best Sushi place! Great place for a date night. Stunningly beautiful presentation of food. Everything on the menu is delicious.
