Growing up, jelly donuts were at the bottom of my list in terms of flavors. I would eventually eat one, but it would be my last choice. A Polish coworker told me about how beloved jelly donuts are in Poland and I was skeptical of how good a jelly donut could be. Then I found myself at Kohout Bakery and I've completely changed my tune, because damn, the raspberry jelly donuts are ridiculously good. It's the jelly. It's a very good jelly. It's not gummy or thick. It's full of raspberry flavor and there is plenty of the jelly in each donut. Even a couple of days after purchase, when the donut is a little stale, the donut is still so good because that jelly keeps the interior moist. It is celebrated the Thursday in the week before Ash Wednesday, whose tradition is unique since it dates back to at least the Middle Ages, and is the perfect excuse to eat the famous and delicious Polish pastry. Old world bakery, serving up fantastic jelly donuts. Highly recommend the glazed traditional jelly vs powder or mixed fruit jelly. Traditional seemed to have so much more filling. Nice crisp bite on the outside, definitely freshly made. Next time will need to get a sheet pan crumb cake, seemed like there were 4 different choices.

Very nice small bakery and good prices! Their flavors very much reminds me of grandma's/mama's home cooking. I had the cheesecake bites and a mixed berry donut 😋
