Koali Ranch Cottage

We had our second stay at the Koali Ranch cottage this past late May/early June and once again loved every minute of it. The cottage is so airy and comfortable. It's not a big space, but it works perfectly... and with the ocean side being all windows/deck, it honestly feels like the grassy pasture and the ocean itself are part of the cottage. The bed is comfy, the kitchen is well-stocked with basic cooking needs, and there's a good shower. What more do you need?! The full-size fridge/freezer is great because we shop near the airport and bring lots of food out to Hana with us. Michelle is easy to reach and responsive if needed, but everything works well in the cottage so it's not like a lot of contact is necessary. We love the cows when they're pasturing below the cottage. Farther 15 min drive from Hana. This is a small cottage great for relaxing, weekend gateway. Bed was comfortable and outdoor space was nice. The cottage is little outdated and may better with some renovation. Over all enjoyable stay here.

On the Road to Hana, this cozy gem was the perfect retreat for one night before we continued our drive. In researching to plan our trip, we learned there are few accommodation options in the area, as many travelers take the Road to Hana in one day. Therefore, expect to pay a bit more for such a desirable location, though some may find it pricey as it is very much a cottage with few modern luxuries. It was worth it, both for the enjoyable stay at the cottage and the convenience for our trip schedule and route. We had planned to spend more time along the Road to Hana and are so glad we did. You have to book here! This place was an absolute gem! I had to pick my husband’s jaw up from the floor when he saw our view. We spent so much time on the huge porch! We were well prepared that there would be bugs and geckos - so they didn’t seem bad at all and we had fun watching the geckos at night as they scaled the ceiling (outside) catching dinner. Staying three nights in hana (or at least two) will be a must do from now on, to anyone that asks our recommendations. We had so much time to explore and truly enjoy the entire road to Hana. We didn’t feel rushed at all. Plus the entire town seems to shut down at 4pm so we would go back to our little oasis and read, enjoy nature and relax while the rain pounded away. The cottage is dreamy. Quiet, airy, well appointed, and very clean . The view is spectacular, the cows are delightful, and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed every minute in the cottage and was sad to leave.
