Once in a blue moon, there is a restaurant where every dish you order is exactly right. That was our experience at Kiko, where we enjoyed our date night. Kiko, an Asian-American restaurant in SoHo from husband and wife team chef Alex Chang and sommelier Lina Goujjane, has quickly become one of those places people quietly recommend to each other. Since opening last November, it has already landed on Esquire’s Best New Restaurants list and earned a strong review from New York Magazine. After dinner there, it was easy to see why. The space is cozy and intimate, with an atmosphere that makes you want to settle in. It feels like a hidden gem in SoHo, warm, lively, and just the right setting for a celebratory dinner. Chang’s cooking reflects his multicultural background, born in Hong Kong to
My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here and we absolutely LOVED it. There are very few restaurants in NYC that are really *honest*-- honestly serving good food and beverages with a smile and a warm atmosphere instead of catering to big brands, big money, and mediocre taste; Kiko is as honest as it gets. The working fireplace is a beautiful touch in the front room (we sat at the bar), giving the whole restaurant a nice aroma and visual appeal. We started with the Dungeness Crab (can't miss), which is a great make-your-own hand roll type situation. The silky tofu was excellent as well, then we moved on to the mushroom mafaldine (freshly made in house!) and another can't-miss, the striploin. The steak is served with a rich soy and raw egg yolk so when you break the egg and mix it, the s
Great service love the interior design. Food was a too salty and buttery for my tastes. But my partner enjoyed it. Appetizers saved the day. The chicken is absolutely amazing.
This restaurant felt a bit unclear in its identity, which was disappointing, though the atmosphere was quite nice — it seems the trendy setting stands out more than the food itself. While the dishes draw from Korean cuisine, not many of them truly capture authentic Korean flavors. In some cases, the seasoning felt a bit excessive, masking the natural taste of the ingredients, which was a letdown.
These people know DINING! The service, decor, cocktails & food were all 10/10. The lighting was at the perfect level too - not too dark! I don’t think you can go wrong with anything here but the crab is a true standout dish! Don’t come without ordering it! We also ordered the wings, little gems, sweet potato croquettes & lobster crispy rice. The Berkshire pork was another favorite too As a Californian I can see the chefs influence from his time there. Nothing was grossly heavy - the dishes were light, balanced & just outright tasty as hell! Have already told everyone I know that this is the best restaurant in NYC
