Kanpai of Japan

On 2/28/2026 I had the pleasure of having Cevin as my server. He was fun, charasmaric, and a very good chef. He made the experience joyful and put a smile on everyone's face at the table. The food tasted very good and he did a wonderful job.

What a great place to eat. I was so impressed. We were greeted at the door with a smile and seated promptly. Our waitress, Sherry, was super kind and made us feel like she was genuinely happy that we were there. She was prompt with our soup and drinks, and made sure we had everything we needed. Our chef, Cavan, was by far the best hibachi chef I've ever had. He was engaging, funny and the food was truly delicious. I ordered scallops, shrimp and steak (med. rare) all of it was delicious and cooked to perfection. If you're in the area and looking for a great meal, this is the place. We will definitely be back.

Great place! Don't be turned off by the outside. The food is great and the service top tier. The were able to accommodate a last minute large party without issue and everyone left smiling! Thanks again Kanpai!

This was my first time visiting this location normally I go to the one in Short Pump. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST VISIT TO THIS LOCATION. Everyone was extremely nice. So customer service was a 10 out of 10. However the moment you walk in there was a really strong scent of gas inside the building and the floor was slippery but didn’t bit appear to be wet nor was there a sign. I ordered sweet tea to drink but it was over brewed and lacked any sweetness so I substituted it for a glass of water. The grill was not clean and when I looked around a couple other grills weren’t either. Our cook was Frankie and while he didn’t do any egg-toss-in-mouth games he was friendly. The cook at the table beside us was doing a trick where he tossed the spatula in the air and he was suppose to catch the

Not often do I have no complaints on the food, which I have no complaints, the onion soup was great, the salad was a little fresher last time, however I'm not a huge fan anyways. The rice was tremendous as expected, the shrimp was great. I'm not usually a huge fan of seafood as I don't like the "fishy" taste, however the shrimp did not have a fishy taste and I enjoyed it greatly. The filet mingon was like biting into a stick of butter, extremely tender, genuinely in the top 5 steaks I've had. The sweet tea was also "sweet" to my liking which is rare as I like my tea "overly sweet." The only complaint I have, is that they automatically charge a gratuity fee which they don't give a percentage, but I'd assume its around 15-18%. I find this frankly absurd as I always tip above $20 and I'm not
