KAKAI SUSHI (White Rock Branch)

SITE: Kakai is a fantastic new sushi place in White Rock and a huge upgrade to an already charming space. The venue used to be a humble Vietnamese restaurant, and with new owners, it’s been refreshed from top to bottom with a clean, contemporary vibe while still feeling welcoming and unpretentious. FOOD: We tried 3 combos: 1) Nigiri sushi; 2) Vegetarian; and 3) Beef. The last 2 are Kakai Teishoku sets (Lunch/Dinner Box specials). Every plate was delicious, beautifully presented, with fresh ingredients and satisfying portion sizes. Quality of food, taste, texture, the aesthetics and overall value were simply outstanding! The chef was wonderfully accommodating in customizing our nigiri order, even treating us to some seared nigiri and sample rolls at no extra charge, which really showed

This is my favourite Japanese restaurant now because their food and service are amazing!! The place is really cozy and they have really nice tableware. I’m very impressed and happy they opened in white rock 🫶🏼. The people working there are super nice and have a great vibe :)

We (3) stopped here for the first time for an extravagant late lunch. We all had a GREAT experience (all around). We enjoyed the great friendly service. Thanks Julie ! We were most impressed with the presentation, freshness and quality of the items in the Deluxe Assorted Sashimi and Party Tray No. 2 platters. We also enjoyed the complimentary miso soup and a delicious seared salmon (appetizer ?). Even my wife enjoyed the Sashimi Sushi Combo take-out that we got for her. As foodies, we've had similar Japanese cuisine at many other places. We expect to be back with others to enjoy this experience and try out the other items on the menu.

We have had such great experiences here! The menu is extensive, with a nice variety of Japanese dishes plus some Korean options as well. We’ve ordered takeout before; the deluxe sashimi had an excellent variety, was very fresh, and beautifully presented. The agedashi tofu is one of the best I’ve had; lightly fried, not greasy, and perfectly tender inside. This time we dined in and loved the spacious, clean, and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Highly recommend, we’ll definitely be back!

Top sushi spot in White Rock and South surrey. My taste buds exploded with their delicious special sushi rolls. The service was very quick and top-notch! We will definitely be coming back here :)
