Kaede Bed & Breakfast

This is an INCREDIBLE place. My sister and I visited for a weekend and loved it. We will absolutely be back! The room was spacious and cozy and the beds were super comfortable. The Japanese accents throughout the home were lovely, and we had a nice view of fall foliage from our window. Jason and Makiko and their daughter are so kind and great hosts. There are a number of options for breakfast -- from stuffed french toast to a maple ham and cheddar cheese omelet -- with fruit bowls and bread and coffee available, too. Everything was very tasty and served in beautiful glazed bowls made by Jason, who is a potter. The place is conveniently located on a quiet street -- There is plenty of parking in the back of the house, but the place is also a ten minute walk from the commuter rail station.

We just checked out this morning and I can't say enough about Kaeda and its owners and hosts, Makiko & Jason. It's a warm, welcoming & comfortable spot in historic downtown Ipswich. Easy off street parking available and it's a short walk to local restaurants. The neighborhood is charming with many houses dating to the 1700's and earlier, a riverwalk and of course the Crane estate and beach- one of the most beautiful in New England. So much to enjoy in this little corner of the world and the commuter rail is just a 10 min walk if you want to explore further. Not surprised to see many excellent reviews of Kaede. Jason and Makiko provide a calm, cozy environment in a beautiful, old town. I have dietary restrictions and they were able to make safe, gluten free breakfasts for me each morning. I very much enjoyed my stay, chatting about life, and even left one book richer. Highly recommend.

We had such a wonderful stay at Kaede B&B. We had 4 rooms ranging in size. I checked them all out. Each one is decorated differently. All of them unique and beautiful. Everyone commented that their beds were comfortable. There were 5 or 6 different breakfast options. The two that I had were delicious. My travel partners said the same. They even have a Japanese vegan option, and although none of us took advantage of it, I appreciated the option. The coffee was delicious. Jason and his family are very friendly and accommodating. They offered advice on restaurants and things to do in the area and whenever we returned, if they were around, they would ask if we had a good time and genuinely seemed interested. The room was immaculate, the beds were comfortable, the hosts were so very nice! If you're interested in Japanese culture, the decor might delight you. I can't wait to stay there again.
