Junk & Java is THE major hangout location on the CT/RI border. There are a few other coffeehouses, but none compare in terms of ambiance and such a fun staff of Baristas. The drinks and the pastries are all excellent, especially the bagels, but to me, where this place has been my base of operations whilst job searching the past few months, the gastronomic aspect is secondary to the friendly environment. And when you see so many students and professionals working while drinking their coffee, you’ll see why it is so popular; it’s well laid out and comfortable. Also, they have an adorable gift shop (the “Junk” part of the name). The coffee is delicious! We also had a sprinkle donut that was out of this world- it’s got whipped cream instead of the traditional buttercream. It’s a bit chaotic (it’s busy and that’s great it means they are good!!) but they are efficient. Definitely a place worth frequenting if you’re a local and a place to stop by when you’re in town visiting!

The first time I bought a matcha here, it was AMAZING. Perfect, deep green color, plenty of matcha taste. One of the best I've ever had. The second time, however, it tasted like honey milk. Barely any matcha powder. Very disappointing as we drove an hour for what we thought was one of the best matches.
