Jones County Public Works Department

This Dept. is drastically in need of new management because comments to them about how road is being maintained goes in one and out the other. Motor Grader operator obviously doesnt know what all the levers on the machine actually control. Pot holes are filled in not removed so 2 days after burning all that diesel the road looked like it did before. Since I'm the son of a retired Dept. of Transportation Engineer I am aware of what needs to be done to FIX and maintain a road. Obviously this Dept and crew have NO engineering background at all other than how to start a piece of machinery and waste taxpayers money. Dashcam in my vehicle has also recorded interesting conduct of employees during a day that they are supposed to be getting paid to work.

I witnessed my mail carrier ask and pass my mail off to a public works employee to carry about 15-30 feet to place in my box. I heard her ask and I hollered out no and continued to holler no the whole time it was transpiring. My local officials and post office doesn’t seem to think there’s anything wrong, but the mail carrier violated mine and my husband privacy by giving someone else our mail willfully and intentionally just to keep from getting out of her vehicle. Jones county officials refuse to do anything about it and has done nothing but make excuse and justification for the public works employee! So be aware public works workers can handle your mail!

I called last week but office was closed and left a message needing gravel on my dirt road I live on and within a week it was done! I wanted to give a big thank you to all involved in getting it done for me. Y'all rock rock !!!

I have called five times to have them replace the damaged pipe in driveway and to fix driveway from it washing away and cannot get them out to do repair

The grass at the cemetery needs to be cut terribly,wow Looks so bad, everyone at church is talking about how bad it looks!!!!
