Never have I ever been more humiliated at a library. Someone needs to add all their info when creating programs to register for! We registered following directions online and I practically got kicked off of an event. Safe to say my son will not be participating in anymore programs at this library! What a joke

According to a helpful metal plaque on the outside of the building, the elegant red brick structure was originally constructed as Frances S. Stowell School, named for a school nurse and school committee member whose career lasted from 1924 to 1970. My favorite physical feature of this school-turned-library was the sailing ship weathervane perched atop the bell tower. This library belongs to the network Cape Libraries Automated Materials Sharing (CLAMS), allowing card holders to make requests to other libraries around the Cape. The public bathrooms were clean, and the parking lot had plenty of spots.

Don't get me wrong I love this place and it's been a gem for me all these years. I may not be correct on the most up-to-date facts but I heard something about like a multi multi-million-dollar upgrade or something for the building? That seems a little excessive to be honest. No shade at the librarians or anything but unfortunately this new generation doesn't even know what a paper book is in their attention span is already destroyed because of tik Tok and algorithms

Came for the teddy bear picnic! What a great event for the little ones! Nice outdoor shaded area. Will be on the look out for more children's events. Thanks!

I've been going to J. Bourne Library recently to study and it's a really nice library for studying! They have a dedicated study space with individual desks (with outlet and personal light) that I like a lot more than some of the other libraries I've been to. My one complaint is that due to the acoustics of the main room noise travels up to the study space very easily and downstairs the typical library-level volume isn't really enforced so noise from kids and people speaking is regularly audible, so if you're someone who likes total silence/no music when studying you should definitely go somewhere else. However, if you don't mind a little noise or if you listen to music while you study it's a great place to study without distraction. I'm definitely going to keep coming back as long as I'm
