Jonae's Island Twist

Went here for the first time 2 days ago. The parking lot and ambience have a little to be desired but no matter, the food and service are the real stars. We were greeted by the cashier who was very kind and helped us pick out and order our food. I got the regular Oxtail meal and my husband got the regular Jerk Chicken meal. Both of them had the Jamaican rice and beans on the side and I ordered the sauteed vegetables and he got the plantains. Both meals were out of this world, phenomenal. The oxtails were so tender and flavorful. The vegetables consisted mainly of cabbage but they were delicious as was the rice. My husband's jerk chicken was also great and I have a hard time deciding which one I liked more. The jerk meal also came with a little side of yellow curry? and a vinegar sauce. I

Entered into the building no greeting, The Kiosk Wasn’t working properly no one came out to assist. Finally I was able to put my order in. 15 to 20 minutes later a lady came from the back and was trying to figure out who ordered what only to tell us that half of the stuff on the menu was not available and you can only substitute for certain things. My first order was curry chicken, but they was out of the curry chicken, So I went with the jerk chicken instead, turned out to be not done all the way !!!!!!! The rice was hard and Luke warm. And brown stew. Extremely disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wait is unacceptable. I had heard from a friend that the Jerk Chicken and Oxtail was good. None the less my order was placed at 12:57PM per my receipt and it was 1:47 when I asked to refund the prepaid order and tip (Keep in mind, a tip is usually based on service but in this restaurants case, they expect it in advance), especially after noticing that three customers arriving after me were served. It's hard to rate the food as I was unable to try it. I don't mind waiting for good food, they tell you upon arrival that it's a 25 minute wait after placing your order, but when people who arrived after you are served before you.

I was having a pretty bad day and needed a pick me up. This black owned business did not disappoint. I got the jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantain. It’s busy in there so don’t expect the quickest service but this food was well worth the wait.

They weren’t open til 40 minutes after 12. None of the dishes on the menu were done. When we were able to order we only had the option for brown stew chicken ( our cabbage was replaced with 2 table spoons of a salad) The flavors were pleasant but we asked for chicken and were fed 80% bones instead. I never received my scotch bonnet I requested 3 times. The mango passion punch was good. The presentation looked good but surplus of bones for the price wasn’t fair. Clean establishment and festive. I’d say if your going to display an Olympian on your walls,your business should be Olympic as well.
