Very similar to Farmer Boys. We weren't greeted when we arrived and had to ask a customer that was leaving how it worked. They said you have to order at the register and then find a place to sit. It was not very busy when we arrived Sunday morning around 11:45 but it did get very busy when we left almost 1:00. I got the steak breakfast burrito and a Greek hazelnut frappe. The burrito was a good size with tender beef. The frappe had a very lite coffee hazelnut flavor. Hubby got the French toast with eggs and sausage. It was okay. We also got a piece of cheesecake to go and it was good.
This was my first time at John’s Place, and it felt like finding a time capsule from a time when authenticity came before modernity. The plants along the window are real. The lamps are real brass. The food was usual diner fare but prepared with an impeccable attention to detail. Everything was toasted, smothered, and fried to perfection. No modern twists, no curveball, no change-up, nothing but GAS. John’s Place radiates a promise to feed you and it delivers. Just don’t come here expecting white glove service. Figure your own life out and THEN come get a burger. This is a place for big dawgs.
This is the type of place that I break my diet for, once a year. I was ravenous after a long work day and this restaurant was right by my dermatologist’s office. I had an hour to kill before my afternoon appointment and stopped in for lunch. The menu is standard diner fare- burgers, fries, breakfast options, and a couple of salads. I ordered one of the “John’s specials” offerings, a super stuffed chicken burrito with green sauce, and half and half fries and onion rings. The food was delicious, hot and fresh, and flavorful. The meat was fresh, the veggies were crisp and juicy, the avocado was perfect. The fries and onion rings were crispy, hot and thick—- my favorite. Portions are big. I was full after a few bites and took everything home. The young man behind the counter was delightful, ve
I just ate at John’s Place after having lived in La Habra for a long time and it was definitely worth it! First thing I noticed was how clean it looked and smelled. The staff was very nice and they brought the food to my table. The portions were good (I got a bacon avocado cheeseburger combo) and the food was delicious! AND, they were playing Christian music (Air 1) in the background, which made for a very peaceful atmosphere! I highly recommend this place and I will definitely come back and probably bring loved ones with me! 🫶
Local classic diner. The staff are very friendly and warm. The whole place is booth seating (a bit cramped, but I am a uh king sized man so nearly all booths are cramped for me). Only one thing stuck out to me that I didn't like and I can't really penalize them for if I'm being fair: they play Christian radio. Not loud, mind you, but still audible. Again, private business, private property, so again I won't ding them for that. Just know that if you do want to eat inside, they play worship music in the restaurant. If I had known this I wouldn't have elected to eat here. Still, for the actual restaurant bits, pretty standard local diner and classic diner fare. They seem to do a lot of take out and phone orders to go, so that's also an option
