John & Maria's Pizzeria-Restaurant

I loved this place! I met up with a group of friends here with our hopes for some good pizza. This was my first visit to John & Maria's in East Haven. Wow! The place was vibrant, the staff friendly, service was friendly and efficient. and the pizza was absolutely delectable! We ordered multiple apps and a variety of pizzas and all was fantastic! A New Haven style pizza but with an East Haven flair. Thin crust, char, great tasting sauce and cheese. The clams casino pizza was hands down perfect. Comparable to the big New Haven pizza biggies in all ways. Foxon Park sodas available. I was so impressed and highly recommend. Restrooms and the entire establishment very clean and well organized. Large parking. I will definitely be coming here again.

Tried John & Maria’s Pizzeria recently — the Margherita pizza was absolutely delicious! Perfect crust with char, great flavored sauce, and super fresh ingredients. We also got a veggie pizza, but unfortunately, it had a really bitter taste from the crust, almost like something burnt had stuck to it. My guess is maybe some food debris from the oven got onto it. We couldn’t really eat that one, but I think it was just a one-time mistake — things like that happen sometimes. Overall, the Margherita was so good that I’m still giving 5 stars and will definitely try them again. Love supporting great local spots like this!

Well folks, let me tell ya, John and Maria’s pie came out just about exactly as Dave Portnoy called it—and I’ll second that score right here. One bite, you know the rules, and the number’s spot on. The cheese pie had that classic, no-nonsense New England thin crust—little char on the edge, sauce tucked under a healthy melt of cheese, not too greasy, not too fancy. Half pepperoni brought a bit of bite, cups curled up just enough to trap a little oil for flavor. Nothing over the top, but everything balanced, cooked right through, and consistent. It’s the kind of pizza you respect because it doesn’t try too hard. They know what they’re doing, they’ve been at it, and it lands right in that honest, dependable neighborhood spot zone. My score? Same as Portnoy’s—dead on the money.

Wow! Delicious! Definitely order the shrimp fradiavolo. Delicious pizza and great atmosphere. Perfect dinner place.

Really good pizza. The only negative was that we felt rushed and uncomfortable as our server was clearly in a rush and asked us to close out our check as her shift was ending. After we closed out, no one came by to see if we needed anything (coffee, dessert, etc). Came here on a Saturday night.
