Jacalito #3 | Mexican restaurant in Midtown Miami

We asked for chips and queso and it literally came out as nacho cheese. Pay attention to the menu. Mexican didn’t mean authentic. Besides that, everything was hot and okay. Nothing special, but we left full.

Just wanted to say everything was going great till the food came out. Very tiny portions for really big prices. What made this experience memorable was that we were charged for gratuity for only two people in the party. The bill clearly says that parties 4 or more will be charged. I don’t recommend because of that and because the food was very bland. I don’t eat hot sauce but my guest did and she said it was the best thing she ate.

I live in the building and order from this restaurant occasionally. In the past, I’ve sometimes had trouble getting through on the phone, which has meant walking downstairs to order or not being able to place an order at all. That said, today was a completely different and wonderful experience. My call was answered on the first ring, my food was ready exactly when they said it would be, and when I got upstairs to eat, it was absolutely delicious. Today showed how great this place can be when everything runs smoothly. I really hope this level of service continues!

3.25 ⭐️ Ratings are inflated. I decided to visit due to a friend's recommendation + good ratings. The place outside does not seem clean, but inside, it is alright. I wish there were some Mexican music playing vs. a football game broadcast. I started with Nachos, which were okay, but I was expecting more. The tacos were decent but were missing salt and more flavor. The two sauces on the side were good. It kills me to give a 3.25 ⭐️ because David, I believe the manager was terrific and a cheerful and funny character, along with the other guy who seems to be co-manager. The prices are fair. I might give it another try…

My experience was disappointing and disgusting. We unfortunately spotted a cockroach on the wall near our table. This was incredibly off-putting and made us question the cleanliness. It completely ruined our meal, and I wouldn't recommend it. I asked the lady gently to speak with the manager and she said he is not there!
