J. Alexander’s San Antonio La Cantera

We made a 6:15 pm reservation on a Saturday to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The restaurant was busy, but not loud. We could talk comfortably at a normal volume, which already put this place ahead of a lot of spots on a weekend night. Service set the tone immediately. Our server, Mario, was excellent. Kind, professional, attentive without hovering, and his recommendations were spot on. On top of that, the entire staff signed an anniversary card for us, which was a genuinely thoughtful touch. The manager, whose name I unfortunately did not catch, stopped by our table, congratulated us, and treated us to a dessert and two glasses of champagne on the house. What can i say other than wow! I came here with my family given we love the Quarry Location and boy was this Place On Point! The Restaurant looks amazing and the food tastes even better! The music is calming, and the mood they set during dinner is superb. Our Waitress Trinity left a little to be desired, she may of been having an off night but i will not hold the restaurant accountable on her merits. The Seared Tuna, The couscous, and the Prime Rib were Divine! Our Desserts “Pumpkin Pie / Carrot Cake” Were the chefs kiss to a wonderful meal! This place is a Very worthwhile experience we will not soon forget! Great Date Night and Family Spot! 10 out of 10! I definitely recommend! Hopefully trinity is having a better day the next time we visit.

One of my favorite restaurants, so we try to go when we’re in a city that has one. Service was great and speedy. The Mac and cheese was amazing, tomato soup here is always so exquisite. The chicken and lasagna plate we ordered were just ok. I really miss the chicken Milanese they used to have.

We recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at J. Alexander’s, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and perfect for a special occasion, but still relaxed enough to feel comfortable. From the moment we were seated, the staff made us feel valued and truly went above and beyond to make the evening special. For dinner, I ordered the New York Strip steak, and it was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. My wife had the crab cakes, which were perfectly seasoned, crisp on the outside, and loaded with fresh crab on the inside. We also enjoyed a fresh, crisp salad that was simple but elevated, a great complement to the main dishes. Everything was served hot and beautifully plated, with clear attention to detail
