Island Pacific Supermarket and Seafood

Yesterday, my family and I visited Island Pacific, and we had a very unpleasant experience with the security guard. While I was paying at the register, the guard was giving my husband an aggressive and suspicious look. When my husband asked if everything was okay, the guard accused him by saying someone claimed he put something in his pocket. My husband responded and offered for the guard to check his pockets. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the guard dismissed it and then proceeded to challenge my husband to “take it outside.” This behavior was completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and inappropriate. I bought two packages of beef short ribs about 3 to 5 days ago and placed them in the freezer. Last night, I left them to thaw out. Today, as I was unpacking to prepare for lunch, I found hair on the meat itself and that was the first package. I was grossed out! Then, I opened the second package and found another hair on the meat!!! That’s when I picked up the phone and attempted to speak to the manager and no one answered! And this is supposed to be a business??? Not only they didn’t pick up, their mailbox is also FULL!!! That makes me wonder if they even listen to their customer complaints?????? Your meat department need to follow food handling guidelines!!!! Wear a hairnet!!!!!

I’m very disappointed with our recent experience at Island Pacific. A security guard wrongly accused my dad of stealing and handled the situation in a completely unprofessional way. Instead of calmly pulling him aside, he confronted him in front of the whole store, which was embarrassing and disrespectful. If there are concerns, they should be handled privately and professionally. My dad did nothing wrong, and no customer deserves to be treated like that. I hope management addresses this so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

My wife and I came into Island Seafood to purchase other items, but ran across the “hard to find” banana catsup, so we snatched up the 2 bottle limit. Overall a decent store with most Filipino offerings. Service and cleanliness is on par with other Filipino supermarkets in the area.
