Island Fish Head Jamaican Restaurant and Jay’s Smoothie Bar

This restaurant is a stand out spot that truly lives up to and fully deserves the praise it recieves. Jay is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a warm, positive energy make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. I ordered the oxtail, and it was outstanding!! Perfectly tender and flavorful, the seasoning was spot on and the portion was very generous. I’ll definitely be back again this week to get some more :)

It was cold yesterday morning loves. I stopped into this cool little Jamaican restaurant on the Avenue in Hartford Northend. Lemme tell you ...service is impeccable. The owner is sweet as pie and so accommodating. While I waited for my breakfast of ackee and saltfish with dumplings he gave me a likkle taste of some cow foot soup with boil dumplin, carrots, potato. So good to shake off the early morning chill and extremely hardy...made me feel like I was home with my daddy (SIP) making sure mi belly full cause I'm hungry. ❤️ Thank you for the hospitality, thank you for nourishing my soul with nostalgia and appreciate the love in the prepared food. The people who work here made me feel at home because they were so sweet and nice. The curry chicken was soft, moist, and flavorful same thing for the rice. They give a lot of food on their plate I really enjoyed the food and service they provided.

Absolutely loved this place! I couldn’t decide between jerk chicken or oxtail so the owner graciously gave me both. The flavor was amazing. I’d go again! Highly recommend!

I recently discovered Jamaican food while living in Hartford and have heard this place was one of the best. It definitely lives up to the reputation! I asked for a recommendation and the nice lady behind the counter gave me a mix of goat and oxtail, which was an amazing combo together. The oxtail was mild and the goat was spicy, and they just went together so well. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area!
