Island Empanada

This is one of my favorite places. The empanadas are their specialty, but everything they offer here is good and delicious, served in a cozy atmosphere with very courteous and professional staff. If empanadas are your weakness, you should definitely try this place; I highly recommended.

Tasty. Found by accident - was a good choice for a quasi-quick, sit down meal. The loaded potato empanada was flavorful, pernil wasn't bad, but the spicy beef with maduro was on-point. Rice and beans were good, and the maduros were done perfectly. I'd def visit again. Recommended.

I just had their cuban sandwich and oh the best one I've had thus far. I asked to add a little bit of chicharon in it, and I tell you it was perfect! service was great and price was reasonable, it also came with a drink of your choice. I surely will be back.

Tonight I decided to treat myself to empanadas filled with apples covered in caramel sauce and ice cream on top. When the package arrived, my mouth was watering and tastebuds dancing with anticipation for the sweet treat. Upon biting into it, I found that the empanadas, while covered in caramel sauce, was filled with some type of beef. Needless to say, my vegetarian friend was not too happy and neither were my disappointed taste buds. I will not be eating empanadas for some time now.

Super delicious empanadas. But $5 each, is a bit high. That's why the lower score. Also, some folks loitering in front and inside just seemed little odd. Food prepping in front counter also seemed strange. And the empty warmers we also wierd. I get the empanadas need to be fresh to be good but maybe change some practices and make less depressing. But super delish empanadas, they rock.
