It’s a good place for what it is. Everything they have, they usually have it in stock. Store is clean, people are very friendly and kind. I’ve never had a bad experience here. It is pricier than other stores but if you don’t want to drive to the nearest town this is a good place to shop at. Produce is always fresh and meat is always good.

While visiting family recently, I wanted to take the opportunity to buy some SKI soft drink cans since it is not available down here in Florida. The drink website said Houchens carried it. This was my first experience with this store and chain. I know Hardinsburg is a small town so I was prepared if soft drink prices were higher than I generally see. I thought the store exterior and parking lot were a little rundown, but you work with what you have. What I found inside was dark with poor lighting, in need of a good cleaning, and uncaring product organization. There is no excuse for haphazard merchandise display or dim lighting or general uncleanliness. These are little to no cost improvements. I wish I could give negative stars. It's an absolute crime the way IGA overcharges small communities because there simply aren't any other options. The one in Hardinsburg, KY is the absolute worst. Everyone complains about Walmart knocking smaller stores out of business, but I pray for the day this happens to this store. People deserve better. 2, 3 or even 4 times the price of stores an hour away.

Absolutely no competition for groceries. Prices are a bit high.

Had almost everything I wanted and although they are slightly more expensive than larger chains on some things, the time and gas saved travelling to another store was definitely worth staying local. Plus you can find some amazing deals on some of the least expected items!! I can't think of any other place to grab an ugly Christmas sweater for $5!!!
