ID Cafe

Good, authentic South Indian food is hard to find. Id Cafe isn’t exactly easy to find either. It’s located at the basement level of the Ramada Inn. However, the food is fantastic. Truly South Indian sambar, great chutneys and excellent dishes. Syed, the man behind the counter had great suggestions, was sensitive to food allergies and had great energy. I got idly sambar (large portions) and Hyderabad bandi dosa to go. Kudos to the chef. For a place that’s only been open for 12 days, it is racking up reviews and business. Worth multiple visits.

This is truly a hole in a wall in the basement of a Ramada in Oakland. (It’s not the Pakistani restaurant on the street level). They just moved here 12/20/25 and the pictures of this business was of its old place in Antioch. Best dosas this side of the East Bay!

PERFECT hole in the wall, or hole in the basement of the Ramada Inn as it were. Amazing dosa, brought my two favorite brown baddies here immediately after a trip to India and everyone concurred. Wouldn't recommend it for a romantic atmosphere but it's beautiful in its own way.

I accidentally discovered this place. I think the name of the business is misleading. But to my surprise how excellent the food is here. The service is fast, meals are ready very fast and economical especially if you are one to watch your pocket. The food is full of flavour. Expect to be surprised with mouth watering tastes of India

Amazing experience at Idli Dosa Cafe! The food was absolutely awesome and the service was equally great. The dosas were delicious, fresh, and perfectly made. Saiyad was very attentive, friendly, and made our visit even better. Definitely coming back again. Highly recommended…
