Icicles San Mateo

What do you call this type of ice cream? The one made by spreading it thinly on a cold plate, freezing it, and then rolling it up. It was a trend a few years ago, but there’s still one place left in downtown San Mateo. I do like ice cream, but this isn’t really about the taste of the ice cream itself—it’s more about the fun of watching it being made on the cold plate. Kids find it fascinating, and they end up eating it all up with delight.

The best rolled ice cream spot in town. It's always busy during day time & came around 10 pm when it was no lines. The waiting is worth it & staffs are friendly. They have both dairy & non dairy flavors to choose. At the same time it was fun to watch how they make it 👌 However they don't have place to sit

Used to be good but quality has gone downhill. They now refuse to use strawberries for toppings like they used to. Keep in mind that's a $15 ice cream. 1 star for the false advertising. The Nutella was 100% not Nutella (it used to be).

There are many ice cream places in San Mateo within a radius of 200 ft of this, but Icicles is the best. Add Mochi on top as much as you can, you won't regret it :-)

Such great tasting ice cream! It is in downtown San Mateo next to alot of other good restaurants and nearby a movie theater. The location itself is kind of small and gets very hot even when it’s cold outside. There’s a bench right outside the restaurant but other than that, you pretty much have to take your ice cream to go. It gets hectic, but I deem it to be worth the wait. My go to is a Cereal Killer with Captain Crunch cereal (honorable mention to the Nutella and Chill) The ice cream is delicious and so are all the toppings! Get yourself a roasted marshmallow!
