Huế Vietnamese Food in South San Jose is always packed, which set my expectations high. It’s good, but I’m not at all convinced it deserves the constant line-out-the-door hype. That said, they’re famous for Bánh Bèo and I get why. The rice cakes with ground shrimp are tasty, especially with the dried shrimp on top. Definitely the highlight and worth ordering. The Bún Bò Huế with oxtail looked amazing but was just okay. A bit oily and not as flavorful as it looked. The real miss was the Bún Thịt Nướng. Sliced grilled pork served over vermicelli & vegetables. The pork was dry. Try it but manage expectations. Popular doesn’t always mean flawless.

TLDR: fair prices for bomb food, credit cards accepted and would come back again We were trying a bunch of different spots so we ended up with one bun bo hue, one ban xeo and one viet iced coffee. The ban xeo came with five rice cakes with dried shrimp and a chicharron, very tasty. The bun bo hue was full of flavor yet still light and not too heavy. They don’t skimp on the meat either. The viet iced coffee was so strong I had to add some iced water to it so I could drink it!

It was a rainy Monday afternoon, when I decided it was time to share some culture with my partner. We went to Hue restaurant to have some delicious viet food and it lived up to my expectations. We ordered the banh beo, banh xeo, and bun bo hue. The banh beo was delicious but the best part was definitely their nuoc mam with a subtly spicy twist. The bun bo hue was a classic and hit all the right marks and actually had a good amount of toppings. Finally the banh xeo was huge and so crispy. It took a really long time for the banh xeo to come (I started to think they missed my order), but when it came out, it was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Though service can be super slow and a little confusing, this place has all the hallmarks of a good Vietnamese restaurant. Overall, I really enjoyed e

Phenomenal place to eat food from Central Vietnam. Mostly known for their Bun Bo Hue, spicy noodle soup, they also have good options such as Banh Ram It for the appetizer or try another dish like the Mi Quang. The prices are very reasonable and much cheaper than other places in the Bay for large quantities and good quality. Note it gets quite busy in the evenings, so make sure to arrive earlier. There is generally plenty of seating inside.

It’s a great place to eat traditional Hue Vietnamese food. A pretty popular place for Mi Quang, banh beo, and bun Bo Hue. This place used to be a tiny restaurant with a few tables, but recently they expanded it and much roomier. Usually you have to wait a little for a table during peak hours. The place is very busy but due to high traffic it’s worn down a bit. Our family of 5 ordered 4 banh beo, 1 banh ram it, and 1 bun Bo with Bo tai and it came out to be about $55. Which is not too bad. They made everything fresh so all the food was great. The bun Bo with Bo tai was a bit weird, doesn’t go well together. Should have try the original. Overall, it’s always great to eat at this place.
