Hruška's Store & Bakery

What an absolute gem of a stop! I wasn’t expecting much from a store next to a gas station, but this place completely surprised me. The shop itself is spotless, bright, and welcoming, with tables where you can sit and actually enjoy your food instead of rushing back to the car. The coffee selection is huge, with plenty of drinks on tap, and the shelves are stocked with all kinds of snacks and groceries. But what really makes this place stand out is the bakery, every pastry looks like a piece of art, and they taste even better. I tried the sausage and sauerkraut pastry and it was incredible, truly something special you won’t find anywhere else. The bread is also fresh and delicious, the kind you want to take home and keep for later. On top of all that, the staff is so warm and welcoming,

Have been stopping here over 20 years, since being a college student at UT. The perfect midway point & stop between Houston and Austin. My favorite kolache is the pan sausage with Jalapeño & cheese. Now that I drive an electric vehicle, I wish they offered fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. My company, Pangea Charging, would welcome the opportunity to help when ready to serve this growing customer base.

Stopped by to get our Kolache fix. Got the last pack of peach, score! Take care not to run over their pet rooster… awesome.

Before Buckee's there was / is Hruska's. I used to stop by this shop every month for years but I haven't been in the area in 7 years. On the way from Houston to Austin, I stopped by and they still had my favorite: spinach tortilla with warm chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and ranch dressing. Driving comfort food! For the first time I asked them to cut it in half and wrap the sides separately. And for the first time I didn't spill on myself. This store has gas, t-shirts, locally made food products, bakery, grill, drinks, etc. Friendly old time feel. Glad I stopped.
