Homemade Taqueria Hempstead

Placed an order 2/13 for 6 people at 12:25. Given a 25 minute pick up time. Food wasn't ready till 1:30. Sloppy nachos, bone In one burrito, and hardly any meat in the Birria & shrimp burritos. Basically ate a rice and bean burrito.

On Friday 2/27/2026 I decided to give this place a try. I live in hempstead and have drove past it a few times. I ordered two orders of birria Tacos, carne asada sopes, a slice of tres leches chips and guacamole.They have better ratings that Mr. Tacos the restaurant I usually order from, but it turned out that their food is horrible and worst than Mr.Tacos, by far. I will never go back. The worst birria tacos and broth I have ever had. The broth was horrendous, no color, no flavor. The sopes each had to much cilantro and the tortillas were stale. It's like who ever is making the food has no passion or knowledge on what they're doing. The birria tacos had no crunch, they were soggy and had no flavor. I have eaten better food at food trucks. I've already left a review about the extremely long wait. I'm a courier, and every second counts. I've been waiting for my order for over 40 minutes now. This is completely unacceptable. And just so you understand, there's not a single customer in the room. And there are five couriers. Why are you taking so long to process orders? Could you at least have a couple more people in the kitchen on weekends if you're running low on time?!

Ordered from here for take out but decided to dine in today. The service was great & food was delicious. Just as quick as ordering a slice of pizza & dining in. Food was fresh& filling. We had chicken nachos, 2 shrimp tacos & 2 horchatas total was about $20.

We ordered out so I cant speak for the atmosphere or even the service (though my boyfriend did go in to get the food and said the man who was working at the time was so nice and let him try Horchata and white boy is a big fan lol) but the food was genuinely so very good. Absolutely no complaints from me or him. Will definitely be keeping this restaurant in our rotation.
