Holyoke Public Library

Nice building, parking along side out front from what I could see and free. We came here to check out the children's section. There are SO many books and an entire section dedicated to Spanish books (exactly what we were looking for). However, I was surprised about the lack of toys in the children's play space/play area. There is a designated "toddler area." There is a train table, a kids activity center, duplos, some puzzles and magnet games, and some colouring pages with coloured pencils. I guess I just expected more. It felt sparse and not terribly inviting, but maybe it was the time of day we were there. You do have to go to the first floor to check out books.

The people that work here need to check their attitudes... They work in a library with a kid's section... Instead of pulling me aside or having more events for kids they have yelled at my autistic kids on multiple occasions now for being "kids". My older son (8) was playing with a small blow up ball just catching it and he was yelled at by the lady from across the space to stop throwing his ball inside when he was fully aware of his surroundings. I go their for my family visits once a month because we have no options and now I have to speak to the department of children and families on behalf of my boys because they have not been able to play or express themselves... They even removed the trains for them to play with which is just sad. It's Holyoke, Massachusetts... A kid friendly town. I'

Four floors and so much more, this library has plenty of material for the information seeking mind. Personnel are helpful, courteous and kind, making going there enjoyable.

Great building, wonderful staff, best library around. Love it.

We love our public library. It's not just that it's a library, but it's a real hub of the community.. There's always kids activities and fun. It also provides a safe place Today they had miniature golf in the building as an event which was really silly and fun
