Holiday Inn Express & Suites Schulenburg by IHG

My mom, sister, and I stayed here for one night on a trip to see some of the Painted Churches. I booked a suite and was very happy with it. It had a table large enough for us to play cards. The room was clean and the staff friendly. Only thing I'd change is to clean up the hard water stains in the shower. Seriously, if there were an Olympic event for best hard water stains, this hotel's bathroom would win. ||I also appreciated that the lady working the front desk did her best to get the three of us rooms very close to each other.

For me this hotel has rooms that are what you would expect at this price point. I had a suite and while it wasn't extravagant it was very much sufficient for my needs. What is top notch is the service. Every staff member I came in contact with was friendly and willing to make my stay as comfortable as possible. If you get the chance to get on the good graces of Bruce you just might get to decide the menu for breakfast. I say this has been the best stay at hotel in awhile. Thank you Bruce and all staff for the Texas sized welcome.

We stopped here on our way to South Padre island. Didn’t have a reservation but stopped and a room was available. Lobby was pretty and parking is convenient. Being New Year’s Eve there wasn’t many open restaurants nearby but we made do with Dairy Queen. Beds are comfortable and hotel is quiet despite the nearby freeway. Bathroom had peeling plaster around the tub that needs repair. Cost of room was a bit high considering the need for repairs and pet fee was excessive at $35 per pet! This was not clear at checkin, I heard $35 but didn’t realize it was for each dog until I got a text notification from credit card company. Breakfast is very good with hot cinnamon rolls and good coffee. We had a good nights sleep but for the cost and the pet fee, I will continue on down the road and stop at

I gave this location a 4 star, because my last visit we had a room with double queen beds. The lamps close to the beds did not work. The ironing board was small hanging from closet clothes rod and would not stand up on a surface. I had to use it flat on the bed. I did like the easy check in with nice staff, the Dove products in the bathroom, the room was clean, the fitness room had great equipment and the continental breakfast had lots of variety to choose from.

Location is right off I-10. Queen bed suite was roomy and large, however it needs a deep clean in the bathrooms etc. Beds were ok, staff amazing. Breakfast better than most A rated hotels. Would stay again for a quick night sleep.
