Historic Farwell Cottage Bed and Breakfast

The Farwell Cottage B&B was amazing!!! It is a beautifully kept historic home, that is comfortable and cozy to vacation in. The rooms are immaculate and have interesting decorations throughout. There are chickens you are welcome to feed and the host left us delicious scones from the local bakery and wine from a local winery. The home is located in the historic Hillsboro town and on Friday we walked to the park to listen to live music “Music in the Gap”, we also visited local wineries and ate at the deli & bakery in town. It was a great home and excellent experience !!

I had family stay here from out of town when they visited for a wedding. It was the perfect place for them to recharge, and Paul & James are the best hosts. The home was beautiful and well-kept- everyone especially liked sitting together for coffee in the sunroom and getting cozy next to the fireplace. If you are visiting the area, I highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I had a wonderful romantic Valentines and Birthday long weekend here recently. The house is beautiful and the setting was so relaxing that it was easy to slip into vacation mode. The cozy fireplaces and comfy rooms made it great to stay in and hibernate. Our hosts had thought of everything: local eggs and wine and a deep soaking tub. When we ventured out, we explored Antietam, and Shepardstown. The local cuisine in Purcellville and Lovettesville did not disappoint. We also stumble across a fabulous local bakery and came home with the best bread! It was the perfect break to this long winter and was less than 15 minutes from home!

The historic cottage came with kid plates/cups/utensils and a high chair. There was a smores kit and little bags for the kids to feed the chickens on the property. The owners truly thought of everything; it felt like we were staying at home. It was SO COZY…gas fireplaces in most rooms. Fresh scones, muffins, and eggs on the counter when we walked in. The location was perfect-only an hour outside the city and just a few miles from over a dozen wineries. A brand new wood-fire pizza kitchen opened a couple hundred yards from the house which was a highlight because they had an outdoor fire pit where you could eat pizza and grab a beer or bottle of wine. We will definitely return here!

Stayed at the cottage for a mom’s only weekend getaway and it was just perfect! The cottage was so comfortable and the town is just charming. Paul and James were the perfect hosts and the attention to detail throughout the cottage was wonderful. We were greeted with fresh pastries and a bottle of rose from one of the local wineries, fresh eggs from their chicken coup, s’mores kits, white noise machines to ear plugs in each room. They have thought of it all! Do yourself a favor and book this cottage for your stay, you won’t regret it. Thank you Paul and James for your wonderful hospitality and we hope to be back again soon.
