Hillsboro General Store Cafe

Such a great place in Hillsboro. Stayed in TorC and decided to make the trek to have breakfast. It was worth it! Interesting and cute little mining town, and this cafe is a great spot. The breakfast food was delicious. Had the special, a savory waffle plate, and the pile up. Green chile was spicy, but great. Satisfied our appetites. They are only open F-S-S so don’t try to go during the week. We will definitely go back when we visit Hillsboro again.

The historical component of this small town restaurant is pretty neat. A doctor's office and pharmacy to general store to restaurant. You can feel it and smell it. The food was ok. This is New Mexican food so adjust expectations. I got a burrito but it looks more like an enchilada. They take credit cards. Overall a good experience. The service was great.

I truly love this place. The ambiance, the history, the store's local and unusual gifts, the friendly service, and the superb food. OMG, if your ever travel this route make sure it is on Friday or the weekend. I tipped the waitress as well as the cook in the back....they both deserve my thanks. I did not tip the owner, though I think this top review by a top reviewer will help overall.

What amazing piece of Americana places like these are getting fewer and fewer so enjoy them while you can, and the ice cream is simply amazing.

Small town atmosphere. Very friendly too. The the server is the best too! Food is delicious! They have the best milkshakes!
