Heritage Public Library - New Kent Branch

My family have been using and supporting Heritage Public Library since it was crammed into that tiny little building by the railroad tracks in Providence Forge. Over the years we’ve watched it grow from there to a rented storefront in New Kent and a borrowed room in the Charles City Courthouse to the renovated bank and recently constructed facility that currently serve the residents of the two counties. The staff are wonderful and supportive, and it’s the best place around to get your passport application processed, even if you do need to bring your photos with you. Our kid grew up with the library, and we’re looking forward to bringing our grandchildren to storytime in a few years!

I came to visit my sister in New Kent and I have a 2 year old. There isn’t much to do in the area but this library was a pleasant surprise. They have a dedicated kids area with great books and a play area. They also offer story times. It was nothing fancy but the kids had fun and it was clean. We went a few times during our visit and everyone was very pleasant.

I went to New Kent Library last week and encountered 2 amazing employees there it was Judy and Pam. They were so nice and so helpful to me. They both are real gems when it comes to helping the public and giving assistance. Thanks so much you two.

Used Heritage Library for passport service. Once a slot was available it was easy to sign up. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. I didn't do the paperwork beforehand so total I was there ~45 minutes. This is an ancillary service the library offers, be sure to be kind and donate if you use it also! With the $35 admin fee it was $210 total for expedited service.

This library has served as a pillar of my family's life in our county. We've met the enthusiastic and incredible staff. We've been a part of the library's reading challenges for families with children. It's been wonderful to get to know our neighbors, find references on career advice, and keep our family reading at Heritage Public Library.
