Herd's Burgers

I don't understand the hype. I came by around 2pm on a Monday - not during their lunch rush or anything - and was pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing. First, the service was just ok. I stood at their ordering window for well over 5 minutes before someone came to take my order. No one even stopped by to say "we'll be with you in a minute" or anything. A few times I wondered if they just weren't taking orders at the window, but someone finally did. They didn't say "sorry for the wait" or anything - just a curt "what can I get you?" Again, it's not like this was during lunch rush or anything. Second, I was unimpressed with the "menu". Great old time smash burger. No frills just a great local spot that been dishing up burger since 1916! Thats 109 years!! My fist time trying as I was just passing through. Great burger, its not Fast Food so be prepared to wait a bit while they cook it up. A few picnic tables outside and limited seating ,school desks, inside. Definitely worthy of a try if you are on the fence.

While staying at Fort Richardson State Park we went in town to enjoy a burger from herds burger. We have heard the history of this place and have seen it listed on several TV shows and YouTube so I had to give it a try. If you’re in Jacksboro and you don’t go to Herds Burger, you’re missing out.

A really good old fashioned smash burger here in Jacksboro. Patties made and cooked when you order, very flavorful. Ordered mine with bacon and cheese, bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. Toppings fresh. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Owners very friendly, a homey place to eat.

We were excited to check this place out and either we just missed it or it doesn't say, this is a cash only place. Hamburgers were fresh and served hot, not the best burger for sure and not the worst. Overall, a little expensive for the basics. Not sure we would go back.
