Customer Reviews
I first visited Hell’s BBQ a few years ago when they initially opened, and at that time, I wasn’t impressed. However, I always try to give new businesses grace—especially in areas where good barbecue options are limited—so I decided to give them time to work out the kinks. Fast-forward a few years, and I returned today (Sunday). They close at 3:00 PM, and we arrived around 2:00 PM. I was glad to see they still had their full menu available so close to closing time. We ordered rib tips, chicken tips, a brisket sandwich, and Mac and cheese. It was about a 10 min wait and at the proper temperature, which I really appreciated. The food itself was solid and a noticeable improvement from my first visit, enough to say I was genuinely pleased with this return. The one area that still needs work
This place is DEFINITELY worth a trip. (Yes, I’m a fatty 😅) The brisket and mac & cheese were the only things I didn’t like, but literally everything else made up for it. We went TWICE in a two-week span, during a snowstorm, which honestly turned out to be a great idea because it let us try almost everything. Highlights: • Lamb chops – AMAZING. Smokey, super tender, and even better with a little sauce for extra kick 😋 • Oxtails – Unmatched flavor and tenderness. Huge softball-sized pieces like the ones I posted, with only about 5% fat. Absolute must-have. • Candied yams 🍠 – Really good, definitely grab them. • Oxtail Philly – PACKED with oxtail meat… be warned, this will put you to sleep 😂 • Sausages – Both are good, but the jalapeño & cheese sausage is the best one. • Rio Roll (pizza-look
The best BBQ you’ll find in the Chicagoland area. The owner Keith is an incredibly nice guy who clearly knows good food. Can’t recommend this spot and these people enough. The only down side is you can’t get it everyday! Keep the brisket egg rolls, Texas Twinkies and beef ribs around!!!
Hell’s BBQ in Oswego, Illinois, is easily one of the best barbecue spots in the area. The place has a lively, energetic atmosphere that makes every visit feel like an event. The food is outstanding—smoky, flavorful, and cooked with real care, from the tender meats to the well-seasoned sides. Knowing it’s a military-owned business adds an extra layer of respect and pride to the experience. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind, making you feel appreciated from the moment you walk in. Hell’s BBQ delivers great food, great energy, and great service, all in one memorable stop.
I tried Hell's BBQ at Nightmare on Chicago St., they were very friendly. I thought the food had a lot of good flavor. Really enjoyed it. Really good BBQ sauces. I wish they were closer but hoping they come back to Nightmare on Chicago St next year!
