Heaven's Kitchen Soul Food

The catfish was extremely tender, crispy, and exceeding well seasoned. However, the cook came too close to touching the sun. The thick part of the catfish was quite chewy compared to the rest of the melt-in-your-mouth fish. Nevertheless, the chef ratatouille’d me back to my Chinese grandmother’s steamed fish so I would like to thank him. The mac and collard greens were delightful and well balanced. This has been one of the most memorable bites around town for a ridiculously good price. I look forward to coming back.

Oh my dear baby Jesus this place makes the BESTis DAMN CATFISH EVER! Collard greens were excellent. Candied yams were fantastic. Macaroni and cheese was wonderful. The man who cooked and served was wonderful. All we saw was a little sign that said “ soul food” and it was the best decision we’ve made in a while. Definitely need to come back and try everything else. Love this place!

The yams were perfectly sweet with just the right touch of cinnamon—soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The mac n cheese? Creamy, cheesy, that makes each forkful even better than the last. Now let’s talk about the fish—crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside. Seasoned just right, it didn’t need a drop of extra sauce. And the smothered chicken was the ultimate comfort food: juicy, well-seasoned, and drowning (in the best way) in a rich, savory gravy that had me licking my fork. If you're looking for real-deal soul food, this is the spot. My daughter and I shared a few plates so we could try a bit of everything. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, the catfish was flaky and fresh, and the smothered pork chop was the star of the show—the gravy was incredible. You can tell everything is made with love. 10/10!
