Haymarket Gainesville Library

I’ve had a really good experience at this library. While it can get busy at times, I’ve always found it to be a welcoming place with plenty of resources. The staff is friendly, patient, and always willing to help—whether I’m looking for a specific book, using the computers, or asking about programs. What I appreciate most is how community-oriented the library is. There are great activities for kids, comfortable spaces for reading, and a nice overall atmosphere. Whenever I need a quieter spot, I’ve been able to find one without a problem. Overall, it’s a warm, well-run library that really supports the community, and I enjoy coming here.

This library is extremely loud. Children screaming, groups talking, and staff not enforcing any quiet environment at all. Libraries are supposed to be a place to read and study, but it’s almost impossible to concentrate here. Needs better noise management. I came to the Prince William Public Library – Haymarket Gainesville Community Branch because I needed a quiet place to study. Unfortunately, it’s extremely difficult to focus here. The main space is very loud — children crying, people talking on phones, and groups having full conversations. The staff does not step in to remind patrons that this is a quiet environment. This library feels like a zoo, not a library. People come here with absolutely no manners. Everyone talks freely — and some even shout across the entire space. I’ve seen people taking phone calls on speakerphone, and the most shocking example of disrespect: two guys walked in with bags of food, sat down and ate McDonald’s like this was a cheap café, while playing music loudly from their phones. Library administration — when are you going to address this complete lack of order? Please put up clear signs and enforce basic rules. If it’s difficult to keep things under control, then look at how real libraries are organized and why they exist. Visit libraries in other countries or other cultural institutions and learn what a proper public space looks like. What is happening here is unacceptable

Very friendly and helpful library staff, quite, clean, kneat, tidy, organized, fast PCs with fast internet, sufficient USB phone charging stations available, large hall & rooms enough to assist many people at once, and parking lot availability. I love everything about this library and is the best place to get work done and study. A heaven- paradise for students and tele-workers.

I came to this library for the first time in 18 years, and I never been so disappointed. The children book I was looking for, was NOT in stock.. a tear drop fell from my face. I wish oh I wish they would just restock my favorite children books. However, I may give this a second chance, IF my children book would be in stock. Thank you.
