Hawg Diner

I found this a very average bar and grill. It's really big inside so could accommodate bands and events. I was hoping based on the name and signage that the barbecue would be better. It wasn't. The sauce was so sugary and nasty I couldn't eat it. However, the server was really attentive and seemed to take care of all the patrons. It seemed to be mostly locals or people who knew each other, as they were pretty loud but eh, locals. I "might" stop again, but def not for bbq.

I went to see my favorite band in the Vandalia area again. I love Van Waylon Band, and any time they are close by, I go see them. They always pack the house. I really like watching them at the Hawg Diner because I can get me some cod nuggets (my favorite) and fries and then dance the night away. This place is small but their food is great and they even have daily specials. I do wish it was a larger space, but I still enjoy going and listening to my favorite band. The management and staff are always so nice, and I look forward to seeing them, as well as local friends. I hope sometime in the future, this place will expand the actual bar so there is more space for dancing. This is the only place I go to when in town for work. Diamond billiard table - best in town. Good drinks, and the staff here is wonderful! Always a great time. I will have to try the food here next time, but the menu looks pretty good. There are slot machines, video games, and a great jukebox as well.

Nice atmosphere had their beef Mary the cook is amazing. The drinks were great loved everyone working.

We went for lunch after a recommendation of a friend. The appetizer we ordered was very good. (Chicken Tenders) $$$ The main entrees were Fish Sandwich and Ribeye sandwich. Fish was scant. 1 piece on a hoagie roll. Ribeye sandwich - Fatty and gristle and was not put on a hoagie roll as the menu stated. I asked the server about this and she said the cook said it was on a hoagie roll. It was not. I will not be returning...
