Hawaii BBQ Deli

I ordered a New York Steak Garlic Shrimp combo, it took about an hour for me to receive my food, even though it was on the counter for a good 10-15 minutes. When i opened it as I walked away to find a table to eat, I realized the “ steak “ looked off. It didn’t smell like steak or look like it. Went back to ask the cashier to clarify if it was steak. She gave me a look as she claimed it was. So I went back, took a bite of my food & it was not steak but pork & it wasn’t even fully cooked, it was oozing with the “ juices ”. One piece was completely raw on the inside but seared on the outside. I’m disappointed in how things are done now days with this business. My meal was $19+, I should get what I paid for and in a decent amount of time. I understand that times are hard but waiting for more

Garlic shrimp was no good, not cleaned, fried in the shell and very overcooked, or it was frozen, either way very minimal effort was put into the garlic shrimp and by the time you get the shell off it’s an unflavored overcooked piece of rubber. Great service and normally good bbq though so just don’t order any fish

10/12/2024 Hawaii's BBQ Deli 111 E Puainako St Unit 570 Hilo, HI 96720 It's a stall in the Puainako Shopping Center. Aside from that I had a good bowl of vegetable saimin there. There is a menu board above the order counter where I placed my order with the attendant. She later brought it to me at my table. The setup is a cozy fast food style table and chair arrangement. There was a large quantity of al dente vegetables with authentic tasting noodles in a lightly salted broth, not like the instant noodle sodium bombs. Very satisfying and a repeat.

Mahalo for a great lunch and great value. Super tasty and huge portion. I got the mixed BBQ plate and it's so good I'll probably be back tomorrow.

Good food, prices are not bad. However the girl in the front was not friendly or very nice. Maybe not much English but at least smile at customers?
