Been here multiple times and will continue to come here whenever I have a craving for indonesian food! Portion size is generous. The sides are all delicious. The drink options they serve are good. Recommend the Beef Rendang and Bakwan.
Great food and lovely service. They give you a rundown of everything available which is super helpful. HUGE portions and super reasonable prices as well, and they take cash and card! The whole family is really welcoming too.
Hate doing this. This is a mom & pop run restaurant. Hard working people. I was disappointed with the food. Beef rendang was below average. Chicken is overcooked and tuff. Mix vegetables was tasteless. I know my Indonesian food very well. Traveled there a few times. I am not Indonesian. My expectations are high. If you don't know the cuisine, you might like it.
Hardena, a gem we discovered years ago on Food Network, finally made it onto our Philadelphia itinerary! While street parking can be tricky, a nearby paid lot offered a convenient solution. The restaurant itself is cozy, with just a few tables for dine-in. It's more of a fast-casual setup, where you order at the counter. Keep in mind, there's no AC or fan, so it can get warm. Despite the heat, the food truly shines. It's delicious Indonesian cuisine, though not specific to the Surabaya region. Unfortunately, some items sell out quickly, which was the case during our 3 pm visit. While it's on the pricier side, the unique flavors are worth the splurge. Highly recommend Hardena, but be prepared for limited seating and a potentially warm environment.
Absolutely a gem of a place. A family run restaurant with authentic flavors and wonderful service. It was my first time visiting, the owner was very patient and explained everything in detail. As you can see my piled high plates, we tried to get a bit of everything. The sambal is to die for - I bought a whole container of the vegan version with garlic to go. We got quite a bit to try the varieties, and had plenty leftover for the next day. They offer many vegetarian and affordable options. Highly recommend!
