I came here on a whim for a Friday dinner and was not prepared for any of it. Not the view, not the food, not the fact that I'd spend the entire drive home trying to figure out when I could reasonably come back without it being weird. We started with the Lobster Bisque, which already felt like a steal before it even arrived. Creamy and rich, finished with tomato, brandy and tarragon, it was the kind of opener that sets a dangerous precedent for the rest of the meal. We split it and I regretted that immediately. The fully loaded version with two ounces of Maine lobster is very clearly the correct choice. I know that now. I didn't know that then. Live and learn. From there we moved to the Berkshire Pork Belly Confit, which came plated over a butternut squash purée with wild mushrooms and a m
Tried Harbor House for Valentine’s Day. The menu was set so that is important to note for our experience. The drinks were phenomenal, the espresso martini and white cosmo were perfect. We were seated after about a 15 minute wait and had to switch tables due to proximity to the serving station. It felt like they stuck and extra table in the hallway of the restaurant but we were able to move without much fuss. Our servers were absolutely amazing, I believe her name was Carmen but I could be wrong. 10/10 service and attentiveness from her and her assistant. Plates were cleared quickly, glasses were never empty, and questions were answered thoroughly. The chef’s reserve oysters were delicious as an appetizer, creamy and smooth. We had the lobster ravioli, which I did not care for at all, and t
Elegant and old school restaurant right on the water. Interior feels chic yet cozy, and well lit. I came for the Happy Hour which is from 4 to 6PM, and required me to sit in the bar area -- so keep that in mind if you're coming here with other people! For an upscale place, I felt that the dishes were reasonably priced and had good portion sizes. An absolute must try are the mussels, served in a delightful cream sauce that makes my mouth water now thinking about it. Also enjoyed the pork belly skewers and slaw. Pork belly requires a LOT of work to be executed correctly (get a nice crisp without being too greasy or salty) and not only was the texture perfect, but the taste was too. I tried the tuna tataki, which I think has a little bit too much rice in proportion to the other ingredients, b
We had brunch at the Harbor House. For a group of 15, with multiple children, the service was great. Aside from one order mix-up, everything went well. On to the food. I ordered off the 3-course brunch menu. 1. I started with the lobster avocado toast. As somewhat of an avocado toast aficionado, I was left underwhelmed with the dish in front of me. While the brioche was a nice touch, the rest was rather…bland. The avocado could have at least been seasoned with S&P. It tasted like ingredients rather than a dish. 2.4/5 2. For my main course, I ordered the spinach eggs Benedict with crab add-on. This was much more seasoned. The side potatoes were nice as well. Again, comparatively, nothing to write home about. 2.9/5 3. I finished off with the chocolate & hazelnut torte. It’s hard to go wrong
Amazing food! The service was a little slow and wrong order of oysters came out, but we enjoyed it regardless. View is the best part of this restaurant. We came here for lunch and fully enjoyed the beautiful lake view along the Milwaukee art museum. It is a bit on the expensive side, but still highly recommend coming out to celebrate any occasions or no occasions.
