Customer Reviews
I ordered gluten-free bread was charged three dollars, but the bread was absolutely not gluten-free. So be careful. you would think for UNMH they would care about dietary issues so bottom line is order a salad.
Tastey and great options. But they have so much trouble getting your order correct. The first time I ordered, I repeated my order twice, and the cashier said, "Oh, sorry. We'll get that corrected." And the order still came out wrong. They took it very seriously, and very kindly offered to comp my order after that happened, and gave me a free drink. I wouldn't have written this review.... but I went in the next day to get my free drink, ordered my burrito without the ingredient I'm allergic to... they kept out this ingredient, but they STILL got my order wrong. I had ordered chorizo but they gave me something else. I tried to be very nice and repeated my order a couple times. It was a little complicated, I admit, so hopefully you won't have this problem if you order straight off the menu. B
I was the first customer waiting to order but the female server ignored me and took the 2nd customer after me to another order line. I had to rejoin the waiting line she made. I pointed my order on the menu; then she said she couldn't read it,,, Anyway, the whole order process was not friendly. I only ordered a burger ($11.75) and a medium-sized unsweetened ice cream, but she charged me $18. Such an expensive lunch on the UNM campus. As a new UNM employee, I was very surprised about this and had never had such pricy meals at any other universities or research institutes.
I work at the main hospital and recently they have made some changes to the cafeteria that leave me with very few options due to medical issues. So that leaves the Happy Heart Bistro and I am not complaining. The food is amazing. The staff is amazing. Even on their busiest days they shine. Even if you don't work on north campus or the hospital, if you're a student at UNM it's worth the walk. Not to mention, it's much healthier options than most of what is at the SUB (not knocking the SUB, I dream of Dion's and Twisters most days). If you're gluten free, or have food allergies, the Bistro is the place to go. I recommend the Meat and Greek burger ;) Seriously, check them out. Besides, that part of campus is green and beautiful so all around, just a place to go.
All the staff are so friendly and helpful, serving up delicious coffee, tea and food with a smile. The fries are divine and the Meadow Lox bagel is LIFE!! The rest of the menu choices are so well thought out and beautifully executed. Daily food for elevated palettes. We LOVE the Healthy Heart Bistro!!!
