Customer Reviews
Hao Ru has the feel of a loved Chinese restaurant with the impeccable service of a Korean one. And yes, banchan is given. The food was amazing and the portions were huge! Each combo set was about $16 and we had more than enough leftovers to last 1-2 days. Everything tasted amazing and high quality, so we were very satisfied with what we got. Service was also great! The staff, although small, were kind, efficient, and just lovely to be around. I would say that you should get there before the dinner rush because this restaurant hosts many big groups! When we were there 3 big groups came in (9+ people) so service had to slow down to accommodate. Overall we had an excellent time and we will be coming back soon!
I came here for lunch and thought that it was a great Korean-Chinese restaurant! As someone from NYC, it’s so difficult to find Korean-Chinese fusion dishes so when I found one while I was in Virginia, I was so happy! The restaurant is homey and casual, with great quick service. We ordered their special dumplings, jjajjangmyeon, tansuyuk, beef fried rice, and donkatsu. It was an all-around amazing meal. The dumplings were huge and saucy (despite being so red, they were actually fairly sweet). The jjajjangmyeon and tangsuyuk were hits and both delicious. I also loved how they gave black bean sauce and jjampong broth on the side for you to enjoy with your fried rice. The only dish that might’ve been a miss was the donkatsu as we thought it was a bit dry. Otherwise, everything was great and
Editing bc I reviewed too quickly without adding any written comments/context. I ordered takeout for a couple of friends. We ordered the lo mein, bulgogi, and ojingeo bokkeum, which is one of my favorite Korean dishes. For the latter, the sauce was watery and because of that it didn't allow the squid to hold much of the flavor. The Bulgogi wasn't very flavorful either. Given the prices, we were expecting larger portions for the beef and squid dishes. I shared 5 stars for the service because while our order was not ready by the time we arrived (the staff reported there was an issue with the online order going through), the staff made our order very quickly which I appreciated. I would give them another chance and dine in person rather than takeout.
The food offered was quite enjoyable, with generous portion sizes and reasonable pricing considering the quality provided. The Tangsuyuk featured larger pieces of meat than similar establishments, and the crispy skin was a notable highlight. The Ja-jang-Meon struck a pleasing balance, not overly salty or sweet, while the sauce accompanying the dumplings was well-balanced. The Jjampong broth was also flavorful, featuring a commendable mix of seafood and pork broth. Overall, the service and ambiance met expectations; it was prompt and friendly and maintained a clean environment.
A hidden gem! A very casual spot to share yummy foods family style. Been a few times already, and can definitely say that their food quality hasn't change! Their portions are large compared to the average, however I have noticed the portion size has decreased a bit. Highly recommend their jjampong,, jajangmyeon, and yoo rin gi or tang su yuk - these are our go-to dishes. We've tried their fried dumpling, which are HUGE - meaty and chunky. They are also vegetarian-friendly. One of our friends was vegetarian and they really caterer to her!
