Hamakua Sunrise Farm

My 84 year old father and I stayed in the Aloha Magic Cottage here a couple weeks ago for four nights and I have to say that it was the best part of our first visit to Hawaii because we happened to be there when the island got 16 inches of rain the entire time, our power went out one night, and there were rockslides on the roads! Sure, the marketing photos on the website give a false impression of these very rustic cabins, and communication with the business is awkward, but the off-site property manager went above and beyond to personally assist us beyond the scope of her responsibilities and she provided an incredibly clean, organized, and cozy facility. Our 4 day stay at this cabin was overall fine. The location felt a bit isolated, but the property itself was undeniably beautiful, with breathtaking ocean views, a peaceful gazebo, and numerous fruit trees. The surrounding landscape was lovely, and we especially enjoyed the scenery from the property. Positive Notes • The view from the patio was stunning, especially at sunrise when the sun rose above the horizon. • Our host (managed by Spark & Stay) was responsive and made an effort to ensure we were comfortable. Areas for Improvement 1. The listing did not mention that the property has three cabins and that we would be sharing the space with other guests. This place was the worst experience on my life. I had 10 days Hawaii vacation and last three days I have stayed in this place for a three days and that was terrible experience for me. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed in my life and they put only two towels for three days and when I ask towel from them, nobody answered me. Also there are so many bugs and ants in the room and there is no air-conditioning in the room. You just get sweat at night and you have nothing to do.

I enjoyed my time at the Hamakua Sunrise farm. The peaceful surroundings, the amazing view, walking the property, the awesome cozy cottage, let’s not forget the ducks. I found myself buying snacks to take to feed the chickens. I will definitely be back, I would love to stay in one of the bigger cottages next time. Much Mahalos.

Like many other reviews mentioned, the views are definitely amazing and the amenities are great, not to say the chickens, ducks, and papaya picking. It’s such a beautiful place one can use to enjoy the nature and clear the minds. Would’ve given a five star if there’s no such an issue with cockroaches, which is a disaster. They would come out at night running all around the room. I killed many in different sizes when I was there and tried my best to not carry them back with my luggage. But it failed.. just saw one running beside my suitcase after two days back in my house. Screaming and searching for prevention method to not get infestation 🙏
