Half Shell Oyster House

This was out first maiden voyage into the REAL seafood scene. And we were not disappointed!!! We started with appetizers of fried green tomatoes and crab cakes!! Classics. So yummy! The flavor was zesty and citrusy and oh so good. Then we got the oysters!!!! We tried the sampler- Not a fan of the fancied up ones. Just give us the simple and flavorful. The Smokey one was sooooo delish!!! I’d go back just for them. We had the grits and asparagus but the shining star was the sweet potato creme brûlée! Oh my gosh we will be going back - if only for that alone. Haha the atmosphere was so nice and cozy. You e got cool jazz in the background and the low lighting is my cup of tea. Nice atmosphere with nice New Orleans music. You can enjoy having a conversation without loud music and noisy clients. Food and service was excellent!!

Stopped for lunch while in town and was really surprised by this place. Service was great. Never had to ask for a refill on our drinks. All of our food was hot and delicious. Got the fried green tomato and crab cake appetizer, shrimp and grits, oyster Orleans, and a dessert. The manager Amber was also fantastic. She would often pass and ask how everything was and if she could get anything for us while our waitress was busy. Very attentive and caring. Everything was great! We will definitely be back!

The atmosphere and service was great. The food was very good and great place for girls night and date nights also. History: Love the oscar shell borders and base wooden doors. Yes doors and was told by the staff they came from homes of Hurricane Katrina. Beautiful and must see when you go and visit. Sorry no pics and told of this heading out the door.

Had the Charbroiled Oysters and Crab Cake at Half Shell Oyster House — both were awesome! The crab cake was huge and super filling. Loved the vibe of the place — perfect for a date night, a family dinner, or even a work meetup. There’s a bar counter with TVs showing the game, which was a nice touch. The staff were really friendly and helped recommend dishes based on what I liked. If you're in Lafayette, definitely give this place a try!
