Hagen's Fish Market

One of Chicago’s old school Fisheries. Definitely gourmet and everything is made to order. Driven past for years, but finally glad I stopped by. ordered 1 lb of fried shrimp and 1lb of fish chips (and sauce) for $42. Definitely recommend you stop by!

I was brought to this fish shop as a surprise, since I’m a huge fan of fish in all forms—and wow, what a treat! They had an incredible selection of smoked fish, and honestly, it was the most delicious we've ever had in our lives. There were also shelves with different sauces, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, there was no dried fish at all, which was a bit disappointing. We also tried their fries, but they tasted like they were cooked in old oil and were not salty enough. Still, overall we really enjoyed the visit and would definitely come back. 5 stars!

I usually order fish to fry: particularly smelt. I’ve also ordered scallops. The cooking time was not too long. By the time you start to realize you’d been waiting, order’s up and ready. The only thing I don’t like is the breading, it’s ont the salty side.

Can’t speak for their fried foods and sandwiches, but the smoked fish is phenomenal. Tried the garlic black pepper salmon and sable, both were very good and not overly smoky, just enough and seasoned very nicely. They also have a variety of frozen seafood including crab legs, sushi grade fish, crawfish, etc.

On the coldest day this winter, why not place an order ahead of time for pick up? Easy online ordering, great parking lot, friendly staff and clientele, and nice customer service. The fried shrimp and scallops were delicious, as were the tartar and cocktail sauce. I haven't been here in over ten years, nothing has changed, and I'll be back before another decade passes!
