Wow, what an amazing library. This might be the highlight of our trip to Michigan. And we went through 24 different cities on this trip. If you love old buildings and architecture, you'll enjoy stopping here. We actually got there 30 minutes before they opened but decided to walk around downtown because we really wanted to see the building. The staff was friendly and helpful as we stated we just wanted to check out the place.
I have been going here for awhile, and I love it. The building is beautiful and has a large selection of books. *Most* of the staff are also very great. I do wish the bathrooms weren't a mile and a half away although 😭
Our beautiful hackley library of Muskegon Michigan. Yes we are proud. I did not post pictures of the glass floor you're going to have to visit if you would like to see that beauty. I wanted to leave some surprise for you. People take the library for granted. This building has so many resources under One roof wouldn't believe if you didn't see for yourself. I posted some in the photos. Not only is this library full of resources it also has a place for everyone. There is a place for babies all the way up to us Old-Timers. ;) The library is also extremely clean. It's very well kept. Whoever they have for housekeeping is wonderful.
If you have never been to this incredible library, I would say run, don't walk. Their are 2 stories to be discovered here. The top story is for kids. And seriously kids of all ages. They have so many book options for any age group and computers and a toy room for all kids. We love their summer reading program as well. They have so many DVDs, and games to rent out as well. The downstairs area is for teens and adults. They have private study rooms to rent out and they have a great selection of books. Take some time to discover this little gem right in the heart of downtown Muskegon.
Beautiful building, great staff and lots of tools available for the public like internet and many online apps. They host events for kids and adults throughout the year. Book selection is good, their kids second floor is great as they have things for kids to do and lots of books. Bathrooms are always clean. Only issue is theres no real privacy or separate areas if you need to study, but you can always check out the books and do it at home or use one of the many free online services available.
