Habit Burger & Grill

I've been to this location numerous times and never had an issue until today. I ordered a meal with tempura green beans through the app with ranch. When I arrived to pick up my order I noticed the sign ( see photo ). When I received my order there was no ranch and I asked instead of regular ranch may I have the spicy ranch. The employee proceeded to tell me that she would have to charge me for it. I pointed to the sign and said but I have a premium side with my meal. She continued to tell me that she would have to charge me and that if she rung it up it would charge me I think she said 60cents or something of the sort ( I stopped listening at that point ). But she stated she could give me two regular ranches. Now I'm like hmmmmm my meal is only suppose to come with one ranch. So instead of

Definitely not how I remembered the habit. The steak sandwich was okay, the quality of steak is trash now. The burger didn’t give that charbroiled taste like back in WA.

I didn't know that the Habit is a California institution until I saw the big "Born in Santa Barbara" and "Established 1969" signs hanging on the walls. It definitely keeps up the California vibe with wall art of palm trees and surfers while the rest of the fast food restaurant is clean and has modern lighting and furniture. Outside there's an open courtyard with palm trees, tables, chairs, and umbrellas, and I saw people who bought takeout from other restaurants eating there as well, so it's all very casual and communal. Also modernized at Habit are the kiosks where you can place your order on a big touch screen and get a text when your order is ready. If you prefer, you can still place an order with an employee behind the counter. I was happy they had a veggie burger and tempura green

I ordered a lettuce wrapped burger, fries, and a drink (pictured). About $15. The food is pretty good. But that's not the problem. When I walked in, I was never greeted by a human. Instead I was forced to be an employee by putting in my own order. So I guess the computer was friendly, pretty easy to use... But then when I finished working to put my order in, the computer asked me for a tip. I won't revisit.

Good fresh food has a bit of a wait, expected. Hate rating service when there is no human interaction.. the computers have less screens that I need to swipe/tap past which is appreciated.. ugh
