My daughter picked up food and brought down to the high school. I had the fish and chicken combo. My friend had the OhhWee burger. The burger was more like Oh No! No seasoning on the burger. The burger was messy, and the portion size was wrong. The fish wasn't seasoned, nor the fries. The food was outstanding when it first opened. I support Black-owned business, but I can't support subpar food.
Gwen’s Simple Eats is a hidden gem in East St. Louis! The shrimp are HUMONGOUS, the catfish is seasoned just right, and you get a nice-size portion of fries that’ll actually fill you up. Everything’s made to order, fresh and hot, and tastes like real down-home cooking—East St. Louis style! Plus, the service was so friendly and welcoming. Great central location too. Definitely a must-try spot if you want good food with flavor and soul! 👏🏽💯🍤🐟🍟
I ordered two cheeseburgers with fries and wings with potato salad. The burgers were mediocre at best! The fries were too salty to eat and the wings were the complexion of michael jackson! The potato salad was from sams but good! This used to be Sheba’s and this business is a far cry from Shebas! I will not return again! I rather go to pops in my old hood on 29th & state street!
Ordered a seafood boil on line received a call that they were out of sausage and even though there was an additional charge for the sausage they could not refund me for the sausage I had to add extra potatoes or cancell the order. I went ahead and got the extra potatoes which none of the potatoes were cooked all the way. The egg was over cooked and when I tried to call and speak to someone I got no answer on the phone. I can't believe I chose this place over Crafty Crabs. Wow unbelievable. And this crap cost me $60
Asked for fished fried extra crispy and was cooked to perfection!! So soft on the inside and crunchy outside. Hot fresh food! Can’t wait to check out their soul food sundays
