Delicious burgers (and fries), strong drinks (loved the mulled cider), welcoming staff, and a beautiful fireplace. This spot has a very homey vibe. The only minor complaint I can think of is the the taste of the water, which I think other reviewers mentioned. It just tastes a little off, maybe sulfur-like? Besides that, it was a really nice spot for an early dinner. My mom and I both enjoyed it!
If you like George Washington and a large portions of delicious food, have I got the place for you! Loved the atmosphere here and really enjoyed the food and service! The person who took care of us was very sweet and attentive! Everyone here was very friendly! I had the onion soup, mussels and sticky toffee pudding, ALL DELICIOUS! Hope to come back soon! :)
Loved this place! After a walk at Steep Rock we were looking for a close bite to eat. This place was great! Cozy atmosphere (there’s a fireplace) great service and delicious food. The pot pie was great! I highly recommend any time of day!!
Food quality / price (value) rating 7.5. The atmosphere is colonial tavern. We've been coming to this late 1700's tavern for decades. We frequently come during the Summer to sit outside on one of their incredible multi-level outdoor patios overlooking a beautiful river, where you can sit in the shade of giant oak trees. There are two indoor dining rooms and a 10 seat bar. The menu is a pretty standard tavern menu. There is a real wood burning fireplace in the bar area that gets fired up during the cold weather. Typically, the food is very good. This trip, we started with an appetizer of jalapeno corn bread. I couldn't taste any jalapeno. They used to serve a really good mixed bread basket before your meal , but that is no longer the case. For an entree, I had the Shrimp Scampi over
We loved the ambiance. Service was great until our bartender disappeared. It all still would have been fine if the food was better. I had a super salty fried chicken sandwich. The breast must have been brined because the salt ran throughout the meat, not just on the surface. My guy had a good meatloaf sandwich. The bacon on it was crisp and very tasty. The roll, however, was rock hard and barely edible. We were so disappointed! But we liked the environment so much that we agreed we will return sometime for a drink and maybe an app. Hopefully, next time will be better!
